General terms

Last updated: [14 April 2026]

1. General

These terms govern the relationship between JetCarrier AS and its affiliated companies (”JetCarrier”) and the customer when using JetCarrier’s services, including receipt, storage, consolidation, transport, customs clearance and delivery of goods. By registering an account or using JetCarrier’s services, the customer accepts these terms. JetCarrier reserves the right to amend these terms. Updated terms are published at www.jetcarrier.com and take effect upon publication.

2. Customer Account

The customer is responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information. Login credentials and passwords are personal. The customer is responsible for all activity carried out through their account. JetCarrier may suspend or terminate accounts in the event of default, misuse or breach of these terms.

3. Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for ensuring that all shipment information is accurate and complete. Upon request, the customer must be able to provide documentation of purchase, payment, goods value, contents, origin or other matters relevant to transport or customs clearance. The customer is responsible for ensuring that goods shipped through JetCarrier may lawfully be exported, transported and imported in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

4. Prohibited and Restricted Goods

JetCarrier may refuse to receive, store or transport goods that:
  • are illegal in the country of dispatch or destination
  • are subject to export controls or sanctions regulations
  • contain dangerous goods that have not been properly declared
  • pose a risk to people, the environment or property
  • are prohibited under carrier or government regulations.
JetCarrier may return, destroy or hand over such goods to the relevant authorities if required by law, safety regulations or official orders. Any resulting costs shall be borne by the customer.

5. Receipt of Goods

Shipments received at JetCarrier’s warehouse are normally registered within a reasonable time after arrival. The customer is responsible for ensuring that the correct customer number or other identification is clearly displayed on the shipment. Inadequate labelling may result in delays and additional costs. JetCarrier cannot guarantee processing times for shipments arriving without sufficient identification or documentation.

6. Storage

JetCarrier offers storage in accordance with its current price list. Storage fees may apply if goods are stored beyond any free storage period. Goods for which the customer has not provided disposal or handling instructions within 12 months of receipt may be considered abandoned property. JetCarrier may then sell, destroy or otherwise dispose of the goods at the customer’s expense and risk.

7. Shipping and Delivery

JetCarrier normally selects the most appropriate and cost-effective transport solution from the available options. Quoted delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed. JetCarrier is not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond the company’s control, including weather conditions, transport disruptions, strikes, administrative processing, customs processing or other circumstances similar to force majeure. The risk in the goods passes to the customer upon delivery to the specified recipient address, collection point or the carrier’s delivery point.

8. Customs Clearance and Customs Representation

JetCarrier offers customs clearance and customs processing for goods imported into Norway. By using JetCarrier’s services, the customer grants JetCarrier the necessary authorisation to act as the customer’s customs representative before the Norwegian Customs authority (Tolletaten) and other relevant authorities. For shipments covered by the VOEC scheme, customs clearance will be carried out in accordance with the applicable rules for VOEC and Digitoll. For private recipients (B2C), JetCarrier may, where appropriate, act as an indirect customs representative for imports into Norway. The customer consents to such representation by using the service. JetCarrier determines which customs clearance model to use based on applicable regulations, the type and value of the goods, and practical circumstances relating to the import. For certain categories of goods or shipments requiring special handling, permits or inspection by the authorities, JetCarrier may require customs clearance to be carried out directly in the recipient’s name. This may include foodstuffs, dietary supplements, alcoholic products, weapon parts, weapon components, medicines, medical devices or other goods subject to special import restrictions. The customer is responsible for ensuring that all information about the goods, including the description, value, origin and contents, is accurate. The customer is responsible for paying value added tax, customs duties, excise duties, fees and any subsequent assessments or claims from public authorities.

9. Insurance

Transport insurance is offered in accordance with the current insurance terms and rates. If insurance has not been taken out, JetCarrier’s liability is limited to that arising under applicable legislation, transport law and these terms. Insurance covers only documented loss or damage within the scope and terms of the policy.

10. Claims and Damage

Visible transport damage must be recorded upon receipt. Concealed damage must be reported to JetCarrier without undue delay and no later than 48 hours after receipt. The claim must include:
  • a description of the damage
  • photographs of the outer packaging
  • photographs of the inner packaging
  • photographs of the damaged goods
  • documentation of the value of the goods.
Missing documentation may prevent the claim from being processed.

11. Limitation of Liability

JetCarrier is not liable for indirect losses, including loss of profit, business interruption losses, loss of use or other consequential losses. In all circumstances, JetCarrier’s liability is limited to the documented value of the goods and may not exceed the liability limits arising under applicable transport law or any insurance taken out. JetCarrier is not liable for errors or deficiencies attributable to the sender, manufacturer, carrier, public authorities or other third parties.

Customs and Government Processing

JetCarrier is not liable for delays, seizure, detention, destruction or other measures ordered by Tolletaten or other public authorities. JetCarrier is also not liable for costs, duties, taxes, fees or losses arising from incorrect information provided by the customer or missing documentation relating to the goods or their import.

12. Right of Retention

JetCarrier has the right to retain goods stored or transported on behalf of the customer as security for all overdue and unpaid claims. JetCarrier may refuse to release goods until all outstanding claims have been settled in full.

13. Privacy

JetCarrier processes personal data to the extent necessary to provide services and carry out transport, customs clearance, payment and customer service. Processing is carried out in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and JetCarrier’s privacy policy in force from time to time.

14. Force Majeure

JetCarrier is not liable for failure to fulfil its obligations where this is caused by circumstances beyond the company’s reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, acts of terrorism, strikes, pandemics, government intervention, transport disruptions or other extraordinary events.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be decided by the ordinary courts, with Søndre Østfold tingrett as the agreed court of venue, unless otherwise required by mandatory law.

16. Applicable Transport Conditions

Unless otherwise provided in these terms, the General Conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders (NSAB) apply in the version in force at the time the assignment is performed. In the event of a conflict between these terms and NSAB, these terms shall take precedence in matters specifically regulated herein.

Additional Information

Invoicing

Air freight: Your parcel is normally in the distribution network 1–3 days after arriving in Norway. We then send an email to your registered email address with an overview of the incoming shipments. Since 1 February 2008, we have not sent out invoices; you must print them from your account under “My invoices”. Sea freight: We issue invoices approximately 14 days before the goods arrive in Norway. All sea freight must be paid before parcels and pallets are dispatched or released. The following applies to parcels arriving without a booking:
  • Myboxglobal INC in the USA will try to determine whether the parcel is a subsequent shipment from the supplier. If this is established, the parcel will be assigned the same shipping method as the main shipment.
  • We will try to find the least expensive option for you.
  • Our decision regarding unbooked parcels is final.
  • We reserve the right to require advance payment from new customers.
  • As a new customer, you are automatically subscribed to our electronic information updates and newsletter, but you may unsubscribe at any time.

Warehouse Storage / Customs Warehouse Storage

Weekly storage charges are calculated per cubic metre per week for both regular and customs warehouse storage. Rates are listed in our price list for additional services. Standard customers receive 7 days of free storage in the regular warehouse, while Club JC members receive 30 days of free storage in the regular warehouse. Customs warehouse rates are the same for all customers. Storage charges are invoiced in whole weeks only. This means that 1–7 days beyond the free period counts as 1 week, 8–14 days as 2 weeks, and so on.

Destruction and Unpaid Goods

Goods left in a customs warehouse for more than 6 months without the customer attempting to arrange customs clearance, documentation or other missing requirements will be sent for destruction or offered for sale to cover our costs relating to the goods. All customers receive 14 days’ notice before this happens, giving them a final deadline to resolve the matter. The destruction fee can be found here. Destruction is supervised by the local customs authorities. All goods that are prohibited from being imported into the country or that require special permits will be destroyed rather than offered for sale.

Insurance and Claims

Transport insurance may be purchased separately when booking. The insurance is taken out based on the requested sum insured at the time of booking. This may not exceed the actual value of the goods.
  • ICC A for new goods
  • ICC C for used goods
Goods must be adequately packaged. This is the responsibility of both the sender and the recipient. If the packaging is inadequate, compensation may, in the most serious cases, be refused even if insurance has been taken out. Packaging must always be appropriate for the journey the goods will undergo. For shipping from a state in the USA to a postcode in Scandinavia, all goods should be packaged very well. The sender should pay particular attention to awkward or heavy goods that are not shipped on a pallet. The buyer is responsible for passing on this information. The minimum premium for parcel insurance is 120 NOK/SEK/DKK. Customers collecting parcels themselves from the terminal in Halden must inspect all goods upon collection. If no damage is noted upon release, the goods will be considered complete and undamaged, and responsibility for the goods passes to the person collecting them. PLEASE NOTE: Insurance may only be taken out per batch. This means that if you receive goods from the same order on different days, and goods arrive after an air or sea freight batch has been closed, a new insurance policy will be taken out for those goods, subject to at least the minimum premium.

Labelling and Packaging of Goods

Each individual package must clearly indicate:
  • the sender’s and recipient’s names and addresses
  • which side of the package is “up” or “down”
  • the hazardous nature of the goods, indicated using international symbols
  • the centre of gravity
  • lifting instructions.
Where required by the nature of the goods, each package must also carry specific handling instructions, for example that the goods must be handled with particular care or must not be exposed to certain conditions such as moisture, heat, blows, impacts or similar. For international transport, the goods must be labelled in English. Goods must be packed, packaged and secured so that they can withstand normal and foreseeable transport stresses. For goods under 10 kg / 50 dm³: There must be at least 2 cm of packaging, including cushioning material, around the goods. For goods from 10–35 kg / 51–175 dm³: There must be at least 5 cm of packaging, including cushioning material, around the goods. For goods over 35 kg / 175 dm³: There must be at least 5 cm of packaging, including cushioning material, around the goods. The goods must be placed on a pallet or supplied in a crate that can be lifted using a pallet truck or forklift.

The Following Types of Goods Are Not Covered by Insurance

  • Securities, including cheques, and money
  • Watches, precious metals, gemstones, pearls, jewellery and similar items
  • Works of art and other goods or items with artistic or collectible value
  • Lotteries and lottery tickets of various kinds
  • Tobacco and tobacco products
  • Alcohol, including alcoholic beverages
  • Temperature-controlled or fresh foodstuffs
  • Live animals
  • Live plants
  • Weapons or ammunition
  • Fur, fur products or hides
  • Goods made of plaster, terracotta, marble, brick or tile, and glassware
  • Personal effects / household removal goods
Damage occurring in the USA before the goods have entered the international transport flow is compensated based on value or weight. Where JetCarrier is responsible for the damage, compensation is paid at USD 0.25 per pound (lbs), capped at the value of the goods. Example 1: An item costing USD 20 and weighing 100 lbs is compensated at USD 20. Example 2: An item costing USD 20 and weighing 10 lbs is compensated at USD 2.50.

Deductibles in the Event of Damage

  • Vehicles: NOK 6,000
  • Parcels and general cargo: 10% of the value of the goods, minimum NOK 250
  • Pallets: 10% of the value of the goods, minimum NOK 950

Delays

JetCarrier considers goods delayed when delivery takes longer than 6 weeks for air freight and 16 weeks for sea freight. Delivery time is measured from the date the goods are registered in our systems in the USA. For vehicles, the period runs from the date on which we consider all documents required to clear the vehicle for export to have been received. For sea freight, stated departure and arrival times are estimates. Delays caused by port conditions, transshipment, weather, customs processing or the carrier’s allocation of capacity do not give rise to compensation.

Receipt in the USA

Myboxglobal INC in Delaware does not consider goods received until they have been registered in the JetCarrier system. A signature acknowledging delivery in the USA is considered only a provisional receipt and not a confirmed receipt of the goods.

Claims

Anyone wishing to claim compensation for: (a) visible loss or damage must notify JetCarrier of the damage and its nature upon release of the goods. Where goods are released by a subcontractor, such as PostNord, the damage upon release must be recorded in PostNord’s system. (b) concealed loss or damage must notify JetCarrier in writing no later than 4 hours after release of the goods. Where goods are released by a subcontractor, such as PostNord, the concealed damage discovered after release must be recorded in PostNord’s system. The deadline remains 4 hours after release of the goods. (c) delayed release must notify JetCarrier in writing within 7 days after the goods were made available to the recipient. Otherwise, the right to claim compensation is lost. If the transport document has been signed without reservations, the goods shall be presumed to have been in the condition described in the transport document upon release, unless the recipient can prove otherwise. To be valid, invoice disputes must be submitted in writing without undue delay and no later than the payment due date. All damage claims are handled digitally only, due to the documentation requirements for such cases. Following the initial contact reporting the damage, anyone seeking compensation must communicate digitally with our claims department. The subject line used by our claims department must be retained throughout the correspondence. Emails that are not sent as replies to the original damage claim email will be deleted.

Disputes

Disputes arising out of these terms and related provisions, as well as disputes concerning the legal relationships described therein or arising therefrom, fall within the jurisdiction of the ordinary courts, with Søndre Østfold tingrett as the agreed court of venue. Please also read more about any restrictions that may affect our terms. This page contains simplified terms. Complete terms consistent with the simplified terms can be provided upon request.
